International Women's Day -- March 8, 2003 Women's Circle of
Peace Rally Photos by FIRE An estimated 5,000 people marched and then gathered for a rally to commemorate International Women's Day and to oppose the Bush Administration's plan to launch war against Iraq. Elder women from a variety of racial, ethnic and cultural groups were honored in a spiritual ceremony at the rally, organized by the Red Earth Women's Alliance. Also present were numerous children, who sang songs of peace.
