Campaign SYMBOLS OF PEACE at Porto Alegre

The participants in the Campaign SYMBOLS of PEACE believe that a world of peace is possible. We believe the commitment to peace transcends languages, cultures, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and religion....To express this commitment, the organizers of the World Social Forum have invited participants of the WSF 2002 to bring symbols of peace characteristic of their country. The objective is to put these objects in the Pôr-do-Sol Amphitheatre, during the closing events of the Forum which will occur on February 5th at 9:00.

In support to this particular Campaign, Feminist International Radio Endeavour (FIRE) is asking people worldwide who will not be at Porto Alegre to participate by SENDING AN E-MAIL DESCRIPTION OF THE SYMBOL YOU WISH TO BE PLACED IN THE AMPHITHEATRE.

This special support will be part of the FIRE PEACECASTS that began in the aftermath of the 11^th of September. (for more information go to www.fire.or.cr)

FIRE will place alongside the objects brought to Porto Alegre, a diskette containing all the messages received. Another copy of the diskette will go to the Organizing Committe and another to FIRE for future posting in its website at www.fire.or.cr

In return, participants will get from FIRE a special picture of the collection of peace objects…(and messages).
