INTERVIEW
Christine Fitzgerald teaches computer technology skills to women and menwith disabilities at the Silicon Valley Independent Living Center, a nonprofit organization which provides "advocacy, training, skill development, and services which enhance every individual's
capabilities." Loretta Powell works to create opportunities for disabled women to gain technological skills and knowledge through training and mentorship.
In this interview, conducted by Laura Hershey in 2002 in San Francisco, Fitzgerald and Powell talk about opportunities and barriers for disabled women in the area of computer technology. They also discuss creative efforts they have made to adapt a variety of technologies to personal needs of disabled women.
